Offered is a copy of an early pressing of Harry Belafonte's first album "MARK TWAIN" AND OTHER FOLK FAVORITES, on the RCA Victor label in 1954. This copy marked as "A 'New Orthophonic' High Fidelity Recording," high technology at the time. The disc has a solid black center with silver ink, and has a catalog number LPM 1022. Contains some classic folk tunes:
Mark Twain
Man Piaba
John Henry
Tol' My Captain
Kalenda Rock (Mourning Song)
The Drummer and the Cook
and
The Fox
Soldier, Soldier
The Next Big River
Delia
Mo Mary
Lord Randall
Using Goldmine standards I give the disc a very good (VG) rating; there are some scratches, most very light, with a couple will probably cause pops when played. It doesn't seem likely that there will be any skips, though I graded visually. The surface gloss is pretty good; this album could use a good cleaning. The sleeve has a pretty significant split along the top side (probably 8 inches long), and remnants of a sticker on the front. Otherwise there is light grime, almost no ring wear, light wear on the edges/corners from shelving. I gave it a good (G) rating.
I am willing to combine shipping on a case-by-case basis, on purchases made within an agreed period of time, please contact me so that I can issue an invoice to cover it.
