Kerouac & Kerouac The Legacy was a series of events to raise funds to help the only child of Jack Kerouac, Jan, to pay the health costs related to kidney failure and to pay the legal costs of her fight to KEROUAC THE LEGACY flyer John Antonelli Big Brother & the Holding Co Ken Keseypreserve her father's literary legacy. The first event, held at San Francisco's Roxie Theater, featured the film KEROUAC with a special introduction by the documentary's director and one of its writers, John Antonelli http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089410/ followed by readings of their own work by Jan Kerouac and Toby Luriewith ruth weiss. Eileen Kaufman read from her husband, Bob Kaufman's work to the musical accompaniment of Miriam Halliday Borkowski, and there was open discussion with the audience at the end.

The second event was an auction of rare and collectible books, photographs and art at the Transmission Theater from a long list of artists and celebrities including Joan Baez, Alice Walker, Isabel Allende, Jerry Garcia, Graham Nash, Jim Marshall, Herb Greene, Gene Anthony, Grant Jacobs and many others. Big Brother and the Holding Co. played to entertain attendees, along with Jan Kerouac with half brother David Bowers, Ann Cohen, J C Flyer, Mickey Fisher and Scott Huckabay.

The third, and main event was two shows featuring readings and musical performances at the Cowell Theatre on Pier 2 of Fort Mason, San Francisco. Featured were Ken Kesey and Ken Babbs (the Merry Pranksters), Harvey Mandel with the Electric Snake Band, Paul Krassner, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Jack Micheline, U. Utah Phillips, Piri Thomas, Hubert Selby, Jr., Jan Kerouac with David Bowers, Harold Norse, Thom Gunn, Floyd Salas, Allen Cohen with George Michalski. Prior to this event a celebrity reception was held at Enrico's Sidewalk Cafe in San Francisco's North Beach.

The two-sided flyer was created by artist Frank Bella, featuring side-by-side pictures of the Kerouacs showing strong family resemblance. A vine motif frames everything, the ink is multicolored, graded from purple to green. The flyer was folded for mailing, with a return address and Bulk Permit stamp included. The image above is inside of the fold, the flyer is pristine.

Postage quoted includes cardboard reinforced bubble envelope, by USPS first class mail within the US (buyers outside the US will be invoiced through the system for additional postage). If the buyer wants to make other arrangements about the shipping materials or rates, please send an email.
