For sale is a copy of THE SATURDAY BOOK Ninth Year, 1949's version of the celebrated repository of curiosities and looking-glass of past and present. Edited by Leonard Russell and published in the United Kingdom by Hutchinson, this volume measures approximately 9 1/4" x 6 1/2" with 288 pages both glossy and matte finished. Gilt text on the spine, red cloth boards and decorated end papers were used to bind this book which was printed at the Mayflower Press of Plymouth, England; richly illustrated in black and white, black and white with another color (various colors), full color and fold-out illustrations, along with essays and other writings.

This book shows wear; the edges and corners have some bangs and minor soiling, the top and bottom of the spine have a little wear and fading that appears to be where the dust cover allowed sun to hit. The book was inscribed as a gift, and the binding, though still strong, is not as tight as it once was; the pages are all there and show no signs of tearing or coming free. Most pages are clean, except for the opposite side of the front end paper which shows some stains, see the last photo provided for details. The dust cover has some condition issues; there are plenty of bends, folds, small tears and chips (up to 1.5").

Please consider the photos here for condition, and let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for considering this book!
