Offered is a signed first edition, first printing copy of ANYBODY'S GOLD The Story of California's Mining Towns, written by Joseph Henry Jackson and illustrated by E. H. Suydam. Light red cloth covered boards, gilt text and decoration; approximately 6 7/8" x 9 1/8" with 468 pages, illustrated end papers (see photos 5 & 6). In addition to the table of contents, the book has a list of illustrations, is indexed and has a reading list, dust jacket is present.
The book is in very good condition, inside pages have a little discoloration from age, but are clean and smooth; the binding is tight. There is a book plate on the front end paper (a shame, as it covers some of an illustration), and the first title page is inscribed to its owner, by Mr. Jackson in 1941 in San Francisco. The dust jacket is worn: soiling/foxing, and there are the typical folds and small tears from shelf wear, and the hinge areas of the jacket are weak, I recommend that the new owner consider some kind of plastic sleeve for the jacket.
Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for considering this book!
